About Me

My name is Shian Bang, and I am a portrait photographer based in Singapore. I specialize more in cinematic and narrative portraits, having been largely influenced by the films I’ve watched and grew up with.

Initially, I started out in the culinary arts, learning to cook. But overtime, I figured, hey, why don’t I pick up photography, that would allow me to do both food and photography, and have them complement each other?

Subsequently, I continued my journey as a photographer in the Singapore Armed Forces. I took a 6 months backpacking trip right after, traveling around Europe. I didn’t just want snapshots from my phone as memories, but a nice picture of each place I’ve visited, so that when I look back at it, it’ll remind me of the wonderful journey of my travels.

Eventually, I went on to become a photography assistant, learning the fundamentals of studio lighting, photography as well as pre and post production workflow. I was exposed to all genres of photography, from commercial shoots to product photography and art reproduction.

Today, my work revolves around portraiture. I’m always on the lookout for something compelling to capture, and to bring an emotional connection between my images and the viewer.

If you’re looking for someone to create images that touches the soul, I believe, I am the right person you are looking for.
